International Women's Day with Professor Gormley-Heenan: Harvard Club of Ireland Speaker Series
Please join the Harvard Club of Ireland for a celebration of International Women’s Day. The celebration will include a reception and a lecture by Professor Cathy Gormley-Heenan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and External Affairs) at Ulster University. The lecture will include an overview of Professor Gormley-Heenan’s career and research as well as a discussion about the history and current landscape of women in the field of Higher Education in Ireland in honour of International Women’s Day.

Speaker Biography: Deputy Vice-Chancellor Gormley-Heenan develops and leads Ulster’s research and impact strategy, their global engagement strategy and their development and alumni relations strategy in addition to serving as a Professor of Politics with research interests in the areas of political elites, peace processes, the politics of divided societies, public policy and governance. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and winner of the UK Political Studies Association’s Bernard Crick Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2007. She is also a regular political commentator for the BBC on both television and radio and has been appointed to a number of national boards, including the UK government’s advisory body on EU Exit, Universities, Research and Innovation. She is very involved in Harvard’s alumni network as she is an alumnae of Harvard’s J.F.K. School of Government and Public Policy, a member of Harvard’s UK Kennedy Scholars Association and serves on Harvard’s Frank Knox Fellowships Committee.
