From the President

Fáilte!

As President, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Harvard Club of Ireland. The Club is a wonderful community and an excellent way to stay engaged with and connected to your Harvard experience beyond your time on campus. This Club is yours and we hope that you will take the opportunity to get involved in our activities, regardless of whether you are a long-time resident or recent arrival to Ireland, a travelling alum or student or researcher abroad, or a recent graduate.

As we are a smaller club, there is no official joining process, nor are there annual dues, so all you need to do to get involved is join the mailing list. Your views are important to us and we are always looking for suggestions of ways in which the Club can be of greater value to its members. If you would like to become more involved in Club activities, read on below for more details.

We want to hear from you, so please come to an event, get involved in our community, and don’t hesitate to contact us! I hope to see you at a future event.
On behalf of the Club, a warm welcome to the Harvard community in Ireland!

Nuala G Walsh

Ways to Get Involved in the Club

Volunteering for the Club: If you have an idea for any kind of Club event or activity and can help to organise it, please do reach out as we would love to hear from you. Keep in mind that we don’t charge membership dues and usually do not charge for events, so any connections to sponsored event spaces are especially welcome.

Harvard Interviewing: I highly recommend volunteering as a Harvard College Interviewer. Sharing your Harvard experience with a prospective student is an excellent way to give back to your alma mater. It is a very rewarding experience, and gives you the unique opportunity to meet extraordinary students from across the country and share your Harvard experience.

Interviewer Eligibility:
- Harvard University degree holder with good listening and writing skills
- Willing to dedicate time to 1-3 interviews per Academic Year (cycle usually runs November-March)
- Willing to write a thoughtful and considered report within 1-2 weeks of each interview
- Willing to adhere to Harvard College’s Alumni Interviewing guidelines and policies

If you fit the eligibility criteria above, get in touch with us about becoming an Alumni Interviewer.

Harvard Club of Ireland Board: The Board is comprised of volunteers from our community who dedicate their time to help run the Club. Board and Presidency responsibilities include: creating and running events, Club communications, Schools and Scholarships work, managing the Non-Profit Fellowship with the HBS Club of Ireland, liaising with the HAA (including reports, conferences, etc.), and more.

If you are a Harvard Affiliate travelling to Ireland or have an interest in speaking to the Club: Please get in touch with us. We would love to host you!

If you are a prospective Harvard student: If you are a student based in Ireland who is interested in applying to Harvard College, you can explore Admissions information here: https://college.harvard.edu/admissions. Students who complete applications to Harvard College will be offered the opportunity to interview with a Harvard Alumni Interviewer based in Ireland. Applicants are assigned to interviewers by the Club on behalf of the Harvard College Admissions & Financial Aid Office. We look forward to meeting you!
Please Note: The Harvard Club of the UK has compiled thorough and helpful information about applying to Harvard College as an international student, some of which may be relevant to you: http://www.harvard-ukadmissions.co.uk/

If you are interested in postgraduate or professional study at Harvard, you can find all of Harvard’s graduate and professional schools listed here with links to their websites, programmes and admissions information: https://www.harvard.edu/schools.

If you are an HBS Alum: If you are an alum of the Harvard Business School, there is also an Alumni Club of the Harvard Business School in Ireland. We hold many joint events and share members, but do check them out if you have a degree from HBS and would like to get involved.
